Accepting Responsibility

In a Finger-Pointing World
Part One

Hosted by Stanton Samenow, Ph.D

Part 3   Topics include:

What's the hardest thing you've ever had to admit you were wrong about, or say you were sorry for?

It takes work in experiencing PAIN in order to take responsibility for things we've done that have hurt others.

By refusing to take responsibility for these things, it stands in the way of change and makes it impossible.

Excercise: "Cleaning the Past" - Tell who was hurt and how.

Facing up to things vs. offering up excuses, makes us better people.

Developing the strength to make better choices.

Introduction to setting personal boundaries with old friends, places, substances, etc.

What personal boundaries have you had to set in order to make change?

Moving away from people/environments that tempt us and moving towards people/environments that support us.

We can't undo the results of the choices we've made, but we CAN take responsibility for them.
